How to install

  1. Back up your existing Quickloader database before changing anything. Do not run Compact/Repair on it before upgrading.
  2. Download the Quickloader V6.5.1 WinZip file from the Napco Technical Library and unzip it.
  3. Read the documents included in the zip file.
  4. Right-click QLREL.EXE and choose Run as administrator.
  5. Log in with your Master Security Code. On first login after an upgrade, click Yes when Quickloader asks to update the database files from the previous version. All users must be logged out of Quickloader first.

  3. On the panel board, set the CONFIG jumper to NORMAL (up) when downloading to the panel.
  4. For remote programming through StarLink, NetLink or iBridge, open the outbound ports Napco lists for Quickloader on the office network.
  5. Open the account and start the upload or download from the Panel Communications screen.

Common errors and fixes

Could not connect to port, Port in use!

The modem COM port is probably set to the same port as the PCI2000/Mini PC interface. Check the port numbers assigned in Quickloader and change one of them. Source

Obtaining Panel Type... Timeout

Check the cable, the COM port setting and the panel CONFIG jumper, then follow Napco's tech note for this message. Source

Unrecognized database format

Caused by January 2019 Windows updates (KB4480970, KB4480963, KB4480966, KB4480116). Uninstall and hide the update as described in Napco's tech note. Source

Tools > Firmware Download is grayed out

Usually left over from an upgrade from an older Quickloader that used a different Program Sheet Version number. Napco's tech note has the fix. Source

ODBC driver warning when printing reports

Download the DSN setup file from the Napco library, unzip it and run Setup.exe. Source
